Description • Evaluates dosimetry characteristics for various radiation types and equipment, including high-energy x-rays and electrons. • Conducts final reviews of treatment plans to ensure accuracy and effectiveness. • Manages the treatment planning system, including plan creation and Isodose verification. • Provides guidance and technical direction for radiation therapy procedures. • Calculates and verifies tumor doses, establishing and monitoring basic dosage levels. • Performs linear accelerator beam analysis, periodic calibration, and maintenance. • Assists in assessing diagnostic and treatment methods to optimize patient outcomes. • Engages in treatment planning, patient monitoring, and ensuring precise delivery. • Participates in patient-specific quality assurance processes. • Leads the evaluation, planning, and acquisition of major equipment, including acceptance testing and commissioning of equipment, software, and systems. Skills radiology Top Skills Details radiology Additional Skills & Qualifications • Physicist requires a Master's degree in physics, medical physics, nuclear engineering, biophysics; doctorate preferred. • Certification American Board of Radiology, The American Board of Medical Physics, or The Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine. • Physicist preferred to have two years’ clinical experience in major radiation center. Equipment: Varian TrueBeam, High Dose Rate (HDR) Therapeutic physicists work to deliver radiation doses effectively and safely, often collaborating with oncologists to develop and refine treatment plans. Experience Level Entry Level Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $170000.00 - $245000.00/yr.
