Position Profile:
Provides support to Neurosurgery Practice physicians. Performs duties requiring advanced level of varied clerical and administrative support functions to ensure the efficient and effective operation oi the practice. Prepares patients for office visits. Assists in maintaining patient records. Monitors department billing of procedures. Organizes and prioritizes duties to optimize provider efficiency and promote positive patient outcomes.
What You Will Do:
Coordinates patient flow in the office. Schedules new and follow-up patient appointments and surgeries. Collaborates with Business Services Representative to make certain that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner. Prepares patients for office visits. Performs tasks including escorting patient to exam room and ensures patient chart is complete with all test results prior to appointment.
Triages patient telephone calls for lab results, prescription refills, and other clinical matters. Processes and files all lab/diagnostic test results, physician correspondence, and clinical notes in patients’ chart
Obtains medical records and completes intake forms on new patients. Verifies registration and insurance information. Obtains appropriate referrals from providers for all patients prior to appointment. Responsible for insurance referrals and pre-certifications utilizing ICD-10 and CPT coding. Works with the physicians to ensure completion of medical necessity forms, disability applications, and insurance-related documents
Performs administrative support duties for the Practice such as filing, photocopying, and preparation of documents, correspondence, and physician dictation. Coordinates physicians’ weekly calendar.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school or equivalent is required. Associate’s Degree preferred.
Work requires at least three (3) years' experience coordinating daily office operations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Access.
Excellent communication skills including verbal and written and implementation of these skills in telephone and interpersonal conversations. Requires the ability to work successfully with several physicians and manage their schedules.
