Physician Recruiter - Physician Recruiting & Retention

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

The Physician Recruiter is responsible for recruiting quality physicians and mid-level providers to McLeod Health.  Works with the Physician Recruitment department team to determine recruitment goals. Maintains constant source of information relating to new physician and mid-level contacts.  Must take appropriate and timely measures to recruit these providers, including travel necessary to physician interviews, conferences, and recruitment events. 

 

Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.  Conducts marketing research to determine the best sources to use to recruit physicians and coordinates advertisements and postings for recruitment. Investigates all leads for potential candidates and contacts all new leads and continues to follow up with the candidates as needed. Must attend applicable career fairs, conferences, and recruitment events necessary for recruitment of providers. Conducts Preliminary phone interviews with candidates and coordinates phone interviews necessary to qualify candidates. Checks physician’s references and licenses before extending formal offer. Assists in the on-site visits, including arranging itineraries for the visits. Serves a primary contact for the department with all Recruitment Agencies both contingency and retained. As needed, assist with the recruitment of locum tenens physicians to the system. Other duties as assigned by Director or Vice President.

Qualifications/Training:

Two years’ previous marketing or public relations experience in the healthcare field.  Demonstrates professional image through performance that is consistent with established policies and procedures; dresses and is groomed in a professional manner. Demonstrates an interest in being a team member of the Physician Recruitment Department; participates as needed in various marketing activities geared towards recruiting physicians; exhibits a sincere desire to contribute to the short-and long-range goals of the organization.  Must have knowledge of the medical community and be familiar with marketing/public relations techniques, especially sales. Must also be familiar with the hospital/group practice and services it provides. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing; flexibility in varying situations; the ability to work independently with minimum supervision; the ability to organize and prioritize duties; and, the ability to work well with other marketing, administrative, and medical staff. Must have the willingness to telephone and meet with individuals in the early morning and evenings as needed to enhance recruitment efforts; and, to travel as required to recruit physicians.  Must be willing to attend conferences, career fairs and other recruitment events, in an effort to recruit physicians; these events may require travel within and out of the state; they may also require several consecutive days of travel.
