Pediatric Medical Director Opportunity: Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) Department

Carroll Hospital - Westminster, MD

 

We are currently seeking a compassionate and supportive pediatrician to join our well-established pediatric forensic nurse examiner program, in the role of Pediatric Medical Director. The Medical Director will serve patients ages 12 and under, for a minimum of 4 hours per month (in a PRN role).

Carroll Hospital Center’s Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) Department, also known as the SAFE program, provides specialized forensic nursing care to patients over the entire age continuum who present as victims or perpetrators of interpersonal violence and crime. The unique physical, sexual, emotional, social, and psychological trauma needs of these individuals are assessed through a multidisciplinary team approach including Forensic Nurse Examiners and an FNE Program Coordinator.


Seeking a pediatrician with the following skills and qualifications:

MD or DO from an accredited medical school American Board of Pediatrics BC/BE Current Maryland CDS and DEA license (or attainable) Training/experience in child abuse and neglect highly preferred Program Director experience preferred.

 

Responsibilities

Conduct pediatric medical forensic examinations for children ages 12 and under and incorporate principles of trauma-informed care into your practice. Assist the Forensic Nurse Examiner Program Coordinator in the orientation and development of continuing education opportunities for the forensic nurse examiners assigned to the SAFE Program or other Hospital associates. Support the development and revision of SAFE Program policies, care guidelines, and practice procedures. Oversee the collection of data for grant reports, statistical analysis, research, or other reasons as needed. Attend at least one monthly SAFE Program team meeting annually. Participate in MDT meetings (which are held twice monthly) as needed. Serve as a participating physician with the Maryland CHAMP network, thus staying up to date on applicable regulations and Maryland CHAMP program policies, procedures, and guidance. Must have excellent communication skills and function well in a team environment. Demonstrate commitment to excellence in performance by participation in medical record and peer review. Other reasonable responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.

Salary: $150/hour (minimum of four hours/month)
