POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Work Schedule:

\n\nFull-Time (1.0 FTE)\nStandard: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)\nFuture Expansion: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (with options for 4x10s or 3x12s)\nNo call, no hospital rounding\n\n

Patient Volume:

\n\n20-minute appointments\nApproximately 21–24 patients per day\n\n

Care Model:

\n\nTeam includes: 2 Physicians & 2 APPs\nSupport: 2 RNs & CMA/LVN\nMA Support: Team-based model\n\n

Compensation & Premium Pay:

\n\nMoonlighting opportunities available\n\n

Experience & Qualifications:

\n\nMinimum 1 year of experience preferred\nPediatric experience strongly preferred\n\n

Job Summary

\n

The Physician Assistant (PA) Primary Care is a licensed, certified healthcare provider. They provide direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice.

\n

These providers typically provide care to patients in an internal medicine, family medicine, geriatric or pediatric clinic.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nAssess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and obtaining medical histories.\nOrders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.\nPrescribes, recommends, or uses medical drug therapies or other treatments. Performs procedures following approved protocols, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost.\nRecommends interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks.\nCreates and carries out detailed patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and care standards. Collaborates with physicians and team members when needed.\nEvaluates patient’s response to health care provided and the effectiveness of care.\nCounsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.\nCounsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects. Discusses interactions with substances like food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.\nMaintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope or expertise.\nProvide consultation level services for conditions /problems related to the Provider’s specialty and training.\nPerform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice as delegated by supervising Physician.\nMay provide care to patients in a team-based model. Focus on acute and chronic illness management and population health.\n\n

Key Success Factors

\n\nKnowledge of information and techniques is needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.\nKnowledge of practices, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.\nVerbal and written communication skills.\nInterpersonal skills.\nCritical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.\nSkill in the use of computers and related software applications.\nAbility to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans.\nAbility to counsel patients concerning medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.\nAbility to interpret and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests.\nCurrent license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas.\nBasic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer.\nCurrent certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).\n\n
