The PA provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/Physician Assistant Advisory Committee. Specific duties include, but may not be limited to: + Support the physician by providing coverage with evaluation, treatment, and documentation of service for patients requiring orthopedic care in both the operating and office environment + Assists physician during office hours including preoperative and postoperative instructions. + Provides dictation support and documentation of patient encounters and letters of Medical Necessity. + Prepares discharge letters and make post-op calls to referring physicians. + Reviews charts preoperatively and documents any pertinent information. + Provides coverage with residents, fellows and other advanced practitioners covering provider on-call schedules. + Liaisons between physician and outside consulting physicians regarding patient care. + Performs assessment and reassessment of the patient according to applicable department standards and identified tools. + Assists physician during hospital rounds with post-op patients and with research as needed. + Participates in and contributes to orthopedic educational activities for appropriate internal and external parties. Required Education and Experience needed + Physician Assistant Certification, + Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners, Physician Assistant Advisory + Although not required, fluency in Spanish, and other languages is a plus.
