We are hiring for a Physician Assistant (PA) at our SouthWest Urology clinic in Middleburg Heights, OH. This team member is responsible for assessing patients in the clinic, recommending treatment plans, medication management, symptom management, and working closely with the physicians to make any changes to treatment plans.

Physician Assistant Job Description

Major Responsibilities:

Performs complete evaluations on patientsOrders and interprets appropriate lab, x-ray and special studiesEstablishes a working diagnosis based upon acquired dataDevelops a treatment plan for urological conditions in accordance with current urology practice and in conjunction with the urologistImplements therapeutic interventionProvides appropriate follow-up careExercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising urologist or other healthcare professionalsHospital Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerforms complete pre-operative H & Ps on all surgical patients, identifying and alerting the surgeon to any disqualifying conditions that presentPerforms first assistant duties in all surgical procedures, including nephrectomies, nephrostomies, radical prostatectomies, cystectomies, orchiectomies, penile prosthetic implantations, urological trauma procedures, transurethal procedures, artificial urethral sphincter implantations, stent procedures and othersConducts daily rounds of all ward and ICU patientsEvaluates care and order appropriate labs, special studies, IVs, diet, and therapeutic interventions requiredFormulates and implements discharge planning and clinical follow-up in conjunction with surgeonDictates discharge summariesEvaluates and provides appropriate intervention (in conjunction with supervising surgeon) for ER and nursing home patientsIdentifies need and catheterizes patients with appropriate catheters for their conditionOffice Duties & ResponsibilitiesSees new and follow-up patients and provides problem-oriented intervention for their urological conditionsPresents patients, when appropriate, to the supervising surgeonAssists in care, treatment and follow-up as neededPerforms and/or assists in office procedures, including transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) volume studies, urodynamics, cystoscopies, post-void residual (PVRs) evals, difficult catheterizations, post-op voiding trails and other necessary proceduresOrders and interprets lab, x-ray, special studies and clinical procedures and provides appropriate care and follow-upProvides phone consultation for patient complaints and prescription refillsPerforms on-call duties for urologyEvaluates, screens and counsels’ patients on health maintenance and promotes utilization of community resourcesDesigns, conducts, and/or participates in research studiesManages databasesPerforms quality assurance

Qualifications and Education Requirements

At least 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant, preferredEducation:   Completion of an approved Physician Assistant program Active Physician Assistant LicenseManages databasesPerforms quality assurance

Anticipated salary range: $110,000 - $145,000
