Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board/Texas Medical Board (TPAB/TMB)Current students who have not yet completed their physician assistant program or recent graduates who have not yet obtained their NCCPA certification or TPAB/TMB physician assistant license are eligible to apply for this position. However, official employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an accredited physician assistant program, NCCPA certification and TPAB/TMB physician assistant licensure.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic Outpatient Otolaryngology (ENT) practice. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of ENT surgeons and advanced practice providers in a high-volume academic surgical specialty clinic setting.
Training and Onboarding:
The PA will undergo a structured 8–12 month training period that includes supervised clinical rotations across all major ENT subspecialties, including:
General Otolaryngology Rhinology & Allergy Laryngology Otology/Neurotology Head & Neck Oncology Pediatric ENTTraining will occur in both faculty and PA-led clinics and will be focused on developing clinical acumen, procedural proficiency, and specialty-specific knowledge with on-the-job training and didactic activities.
Post-Training Practice Model:
Upon successful completion of the training period, the PA will conduct independent clinic sessions under indirect supervision of a collaborating physician in accordance with state licensure and institutional policy. The PA will be responsible for evaluating and managing patients across a wide range of ENT conditions in the outpatient setting.
Work Duties/Common In-Office Procedures Performed:
The PA will independently perform a variety of hands-on ENT procedures, and various clinical duties, including but not limited to:
Elicit detailed histories from patients and conduct comprehensive physical examinations. Determines diagnosis and orders appropriate testing. Develops treatment plans. Counsels patients and families on their health/disease/surgery. Cerumen removal. Nasal endoscopy. Flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy. Foreign body removal (ear, nose, throat). Management of epistaxis (including cautery and nasal packing). Participation in departmental meetings, QI initiatives, and multidisciplinary case discussions . Performs related duties as required.Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA certification and state PA licensure (or eligibility). BLS/ACLS certification. Prior clinical experience in ENT or a surgical specialty preferred but not required. New graduates welcome to apply. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated interest in procedural care and subspecialty medicine.Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
