NaphCare is hiring a Staff Physician to join our team of medical professionals in the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA.

 

As a Correctional Staff Physician, you will be responsible for providing quality medical care to meet the healthcare needs of the patients within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.

Responsibilities

The Staff Physician is responsible for performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and managing chronic conditions, ensuring care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

Formulating working diagnoses, developing and implementing treatment plans, and evaluating/modifying therapeutic regimensEvaluating patients who have returned from off-site treatmentResponding to and initiating care for medical emergencies throughout the facilityCoordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities related to medical care for patientsConducting rounds in the medical and infirmary unitsEnsuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standardsCollaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications

Medical degree (MD or DO)Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in GeorgiaA current DEA registration in FloridaA valid CPR cardBe certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical SpecialtiesMust possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills.

 

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills

Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to collaborate with medical teamStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsKnowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standardsAble to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationDisplay integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirementsMust pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

 

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
