The Opportunity

MUST have clear, fluent written & verbal English
Proven ability to manage and lead large groups
This position requires many consecutive hours of standing, crouching, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, over head reaching, portering of up to bariatric clients
Ability to repair and troubleshoot equipment like walkers and wheelchairs
Familiarity with AFO's
Proven track record of being able to work with and for an Occupational Therapist and a Physiotherapist
Willingness to provide home visits should it be required
Experience in complex care providing therapeutic services to geriatric populations

as per current AUPE Collective Agreement
all new external hires will start a Step 1 of the pay scale.

Under the direction of the Physical Therapist, or designate, you will treat, instruct, and work with clients carrying out rehabilitation activities as prescribed by the therapist. You will also be responsible for maintaining therapy equipment and supplies.
 
Health Care Aide or Therapy Aide certificate or equivalent is required. Experience in a rehabilitative setting is desirable. Experience working with geriatric and/or disabled populations is an asset. You are a strong communicator able to communicate effectively in verbal and written English. You have excellent interpersonal skills as well as observation and reporting skills. You must be physically capable of performing lifts, transfers and other physical activities as required by job duties. Basic sewing and mechanical skills are preferred.  Food Safe 1 is required (post July 29, 2013) or equivalent for BC employees and Food Safety Basic or equivalent for Alberta employees.

Requirements:

A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date. A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.Diversity-Equity-Inclusion
