Job Summary
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:-Responsible for the evaluation, treatment planning and treatment implementation of all referred patients.
-Performs thorough and complete evaluation upon receipt of MD referral.
-Verifies physician order according to department standard operating procedure prior to initiating evaluation.
-Demonstrates consistent procedure to identify specific patient problems.
-Demonstrates consistent ability to interpret evaluation results and develop treatment plan.
-Documents evaluation and treatment plan according to department standard operating procedure.
-Administers physical therapy treatment to patients according to department standard operating procedures in order to maximize their potential physical functioning at their optimal level.
-Acquires and maintains the skills necessary to perform treatment and procedures.
-Treats patients as per treatment plan, goals and timeframe.
-As indicated, monitors treatment carried out by supportive personnel.
-Evaluates patient response to treatment and modifies treatment plan as documented in progress note.
-Provides for patient safety at all times.
-Evaluates patient’s readiness for treatment based on established treatment goals indicated in documentation.
-Evaluates patient treatment needs and pursues follow-up program (referrals, home exercise, etc.) as documented in the discharge summary.
-Maintains and completes accurate documentation, department records, and reports.
-Maintains and completes accurate written patient care records in a timely manner in compliance with regulatory agencies.
-Records all patient charges accurately and sends to accounting department weekly.
-As indicated, ensures correct release of information is obtained prior to all referrals being made according to hospital procedure.
-Ensures effective communication with multidisciplinary team members and patient.
-Maintains effective communication among the McLean staff.
-Communicates treatment plan and goals clearly to patient and/or family as indicated in progress notes.
-Teaches patient and/or family to perform or assist with selected activities and document patient/family response.
-Ensures the efficient and productive operation of the physical therapy department.
-Ensures supply reordering as needed.
-Assists in maintaining clean and safe working environment as observed by supervisor.
-Demonstrates ability to organize patient care and set appropriate priorities by effective scheduling.
-Operates and maintains equipment and environment in a safe and orderly manner.
-Acquires and maintains skills necessary to use equipment properly according to department standard operating procedure.
-Assures quality of equipment and materials by taking necessary tests and cultures as per standard hospital operating procedure.
-Maintains commitment to professional growth and competency.
-Identifies own learning needs by seeking colleagues input on unfamiliar or unusual procedures or cases.
-Maintains professional skills level by attendance at inservice offerings and review of current literature.
-Demonstrates a knowledge of institutional regulations regarding patient care, fire, and safety, infection control, disaster plans and emergency codes and procedures according to department procedures.
-Promotes the McLean Hospital philosophy to ensure quality care.
-Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times according to established procedures.
-Provides positive, supportive communication to patients, families, visitors and McLean personnel.
-Collaborates with other departments of the hospital and outside agencies to meet the identified needs of the patient.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited college of Physical Therapy.Registered PT license in State of Massachusetts.Additional qualifications or certifications in project management, research administration, or healthcare management are preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of research methodologies, healthcare systems, and regulatory requirements is advantageous.Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
