**Job Description**
The Metro Transit Police Department has tristate jurisdiction and operates in the District of Columbia, the State of Maryland, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) seeks to find a Physical Security Specialist who will be responsible for conducting security, building, and ground inspections. Incumbent selected for this role should be knowledgeable about physical security protocols, crime prevention through environmental design, intrusion detection, and how to utilize & manage closed-circuit television (CCTV) technologies.
The Physical Security Specialist offers a competitive starting annual salary of $71,300. Those who are eligible may receive a higher salary up to $121K depending on years of experience and qualifications.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**
+ A Bachelor¿s degree in Physical Security or Law Enforcement
+ In lieu of a Bachelor¿s degree, a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and four (4) years of experience in Security or Law Enforcement may be considered in addition to the below experience.
**Experience**
+ A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Security or Law Enforcement
**Certification/Licensure**
+ Possession of a valid District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia motor vehicle operator¿s permit issued from jurisdiction of residence or the ability to acquire one on a timely basis.
**SUMMARY**
The Physical Security Specialist is responsible for conducting physical security risk vulnerability inspections and reviewing facility designs. The incumbent develops and executes physical security standards and procedures. The Specialist provides technical support for camera systems and electronic access control systems.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
+ Conducts physical security inspections and surveys, as well as other related activities in compliance with current policy, directives and regulations.
+ Develops and coordinates physical security and crime prevention programs.
+ Facilitates security and safety awareness training for WMATA personnel.
+ Inspects WMATA facilities and ensures that physical security standards are met.
+ Conducts preventative maintenance inspections of WMATA security equipment and systems to avoid costly repairs. Submits repair requests and conducts follow up inspections to ensure repairs are satisfactorily completed.
+ Assist in the review of various construction plans to ensure that physical security measures and access control technologies are properly incorporated into all plans. Ensures all security measures comply with the standards outlined in Crime Prevention through Environmental Design.
+ Visits WMATA construction sites to inspect buildings and grounds ensuring that sufficient and appropriate security technologies are installed and deployed at existing and new facilities, in compliance with plans, policies and regulations.
+ Reviews and makes recommendations for various levels of access to WMATA properties facilities and specific rooms based on role and duties performed.
+ Conducts security procedures training for WMATA Special Police Officers and Contract Security Officers.
+ Reviews and analyzes current and proposed physical security technologies to ensure that the most up to date technologies are incorporated into the design of new and rebuilt facilities. Coordinates with IT Cybersecurity regarding these technologies as needed.
**OTHER FUNCTIONS**
+ Assist in the development of physical security resource management plans to identify resource needs and evaluate different options for existing and new facilities.
+ Completes all associated administrative functions and maintains appropriate files and databases.
