**About the Team:** The WSJ Opinion section has long served as a forum for intelligent, values-driven commentary, dedicated to advocating a consistent philosophy that can be summed up as 'free markets, free people.' WSJ Opinion offers sharp, original analysis and strong points of view on the news of the day. This position will play a key role in the presentation of opinion, arts and books content and will support the daily operation of the section's visuals team. **About the Role:** The Wall Street Journal Opinion section is looking for a New York-based photo and graphics editor to join our visuals team as a photo editor. The photo editor will be responsible for the digital and print presentations of our team's content, including photo research and editing. Our content requires bold digital display on mobile and desktop platforms, and a thoughtful approach to print requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong eye for visual storytelling across various mediums, including mobile, desktop and print, with a particular focus on aligning visuals with the unique tone and nuanced perspective of Opinion's content, ensuring that the visual elements not only complement the inherent arguments but also enhance the intended message and resonate deeply with the target audience. Additionally, this role will involve research and selection of images for the Journal's Arts in Review coverage and our Book Reviews section. A strong understanding and interest in fine arts, culture and history, and a capacity to select thoughtful, vibrant and creative images to illustrate these varied reviews is ideal. This person would be expected to maintain a strong and dynamic quality of photography, to produce photo-illustrations and collaborate on data visualization. This is an opportunity to collaborate with world-class editors and writers, and work closely with the other members of our small, dedicated visuals team to produce the best presentations for our Opinion team's analysis, reviews and features. We're looking for a collaborative team player with a proactive, positive "can do" attitude, a strong work ethic and demonstrated experience in digital-first visual storytelling. This person should be an effective communicator who is excited about partnering with experienced colleagues across Opinion's teams. This position will be based in our New York office. **You Will:** + Maintain a strong and dynamic quality of photography and potentially some photo-illustration. + Produce breaking news research and images in a fast-paced environment. + Tell a story visually and translate visually an article's thesis to match the tone harmoniously. + Help reporters and editors understand best practices for visual storytelling. + Collaborate with the social media team on compelling visuals. + Collaborate on data visualizations and infographics + Negotiate license agreements and have a keen understanding of copyright laws. + Conduct detailed photo research. **You Have:** + 5+ years of photo and graphics editing experience + Comfortable working with visuals for multiple mediums, including mobile, desktop, and print. + Strong creative photographic research and story production. + Solid background in news and features photo research, photojournalism. + Expert proficiency in visual tools like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; proficiency in CMS tools like WordPress; fluency in Acrobat, G Suite, Microsoft Word and Excel.
