We envisage the successful candidate being based in Madrid, Spain.

Reuters is looking for an experienced photo/multimedia storyteller that has experience in project management and multimedia production, to join Reuters as Editor on its Wider Image desk in the production of long-form photo stories.

This role will expand the Wider Image team that works remotely with photographers across the globe to produce the most impactful, insightful, and competitive visual stories for media clients. 

In this role, the Photo Editor will report to Senior Editor, Wider Image and Special Projects.

About the Role

As Photo Editor, Wider Image, you will:

Help manage project production across all time zones and regions.

Bring fresh ideas to our news gathering and presentations on our microsite, deepening our storytelling efforts and staying abreast of the changing industry.

Produce and edit photo driven/multimedia stories.

Produce photo driven stories off breaking news stories with quick turnaround time for publication.

Learn how to build microsites on our custom platform.

Work with reporting teams on stories from ideation and research to newsgathering, making sure each story has all complementing elements.

Help curate multiple year end Pictures of the Year packages.

Produce at short notice a “Picture and its Story” feature based on a viral or especially impactful photo or photos from the Reuters picture wire.

Promote diversity of our photographer pool and of the topics and people we report on.

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Photo Editor, Wider Image, if you have:

Demonstrable experience in visual journalism.

Fluency in written and spoken English (additional languages are an advantage - please indicate these on your application).

Extensive experience working with large volumes of photos with criteria.

Experience with multimedia (audio, video and text) editing either as a separate product or in combination with still photos.

Ability to develop talent and build inclusive teams.

Some newsroom experience working with editors and field journalists.

Excellent news judgment.

Digital fluency and the ability to learn new tools.

Experience building multimedia stories for digital publication.
