The Phlebotomist Technician performs blood and urine collection procedures utilizing standard collection methods and instructs patients on sample collection procedures. The individual will perform many procedures requiring advanced skills and demonstrated individual productivity in the highest quartile of the department mean. Due to the potentially critical consequence of an error, Phlebotomist Technicians must follow a strict patient identification policy, including verification of specimen labels applied to patient samples. The Phlebotomist Technician accurately and efficiently utilizes laboratory computers and follows safety policies and regulations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred/Optional: Successful completion of a post-secondary medical terminology course.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: For On-The-Job trained staff, two years’ experience within Marshfield Clinic Health System or its affiliates with performing venipunctures, skin punctures and specimen processing. Demonstrated proficiency with communication skills and clerical duties. For Post-Secondary Phlebotomy-trained and diploma-ed staff, one year experience with Marshfield Clinic Health System and one year phlebotomy experience (these can be collective or consecutive

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
