Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist III to join our team in Vancouver. This role involves working in an inpatient setting, where you will be responsible for greeting patients, performing blood draws, labeling and centrifuging specimens, and maintaining accurate patient records. You will be required to collect and store specimens according to established procedures and explain venipuncture processes clearly and courteously to patients.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Ensure accuracy of test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results.Prep the site, handle insurance and billing, and process samples.Provide excellent customer service to patients.Essential SkillsExperience in drawing blood and performing venipunctures.Proficiency in specimen collection and laboratory procedures.Strong customer service skills.Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations.Ability to understand and comply with physicians' orders.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.6+ months of phlebotomy/venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Previous customer service experience in any setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Positive, hardworking, and takes initiative.Works well with others and has a patient-first mindset.Work Environment
The position is based at Legacy Emanuel located at 501 N Graham St, Portland, OR. The schedule is Monday to Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with rotating weekends. This contract is initially slated for 3 months, with the possibility of extensions. The work environment is dynamic, offering opportunities for growth and movement into different departments.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.85 - $27.00/hr.
