Job Title: Phlebotomist III - Sierra Vista Job Description We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist III to join our dynamic team. This role involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging samples, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. As a Phlebotomist III, you will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens in accordance with established procedures, explaining processes such as venipuncture and specimen collection to patients, and demonstrating techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. You will need to fully understand physicians' orders, match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, and ensure all specimens are properly labeled, centrifuged, split, and stored as required by test orders. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. + Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. + Decontaminate equipment and update patient information. + Collect and store specimens following established procedures. + Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods to patients. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. + Understand and follow physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and store specimens according to test orders. + Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. + Package specimens for transport, maintaining specimen integrity. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results. Essential Skills + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. + Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 1-3 years of experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with troubleshooting and making workflow recommendations. Work Environment This position is based in a Patient Service Center (PSC) working alongside one or more phlebotomists, drawing blood from outpatients. Responsibilities encompass the entire process, from entering doctors' orders into the computer system and verifying insurance, to taking copays or payments, drawing blood, and preparing specimens for courier pickup. Work hours are from M-F 7 AM to 4 PM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.59/hr.
