We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations to enhance our operations.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate as needed.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, ensuring proper explanation of the process to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles effectively.Understand and adhere to physicians' orders, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order, ensuring correct procedure compliance.Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport, storing them at required temperatures and following protocols to maintain specimen integrity.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries regarding laboratory results.Essential SkillsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with pediatric and geriatric patients.Customer service skills.Sample/specimen processing experience.Ability to perform 40-50 draws per day.Work Environment
The position is located at a patient service center. The facility consists of four draw rooms and an OTS room, where you will work collaboratively with a team. The role requires 40-50 draws per day and involves training with the site coordinator for approximately 2-3 weeks. The work schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 4 PM. The environment emphasizes punctuality, customer friendliness, teamwork, and consistent attendance.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
