Job Title: Phlebotomist II - Lawrenceville
Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations to ensure smooth operations.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens while recording maintenance data and decontaminating equipment.
+ Update patient information and collect specimens according to established procedures.
+ Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, or other specimen collections such as urine or fecal as required.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
+ Fully understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperatures.
+ Place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes, accurately label them, and follow procedures outlined by specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
+ Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone calls to read laboratory results and satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
+ At least 2-3 years of recent phlebotomy experience in a reference lab, outpatient clinic, or doctor's office.
+ Experience with all age groups from pediatric to geriatric.
+ Excellent customer service skills.
+ Experience with drawing blood from 30+ patients per day using straight needles.
+ Expertise in specimen collection.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Phlebotomy certification (CPT).
Work Environment
The position is located in Lawrenceville, GA. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5 PM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
