Job Description
The primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to perform various tasks related to specimen collection and processing, while providing exceptional service and maintaining a smooth workflow. This position requires troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws and label specimens accurately.Centrifuge and decontaminate specimens as required.Update patient information and maintain accurate records.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.Fully understand and comply with all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Ensure test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct.Package specimens for transport and store according to required temperature.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries.Essential SkillsValid Phlebotomy certification as required by state.Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Phlebotomy experience of 0-2 years.Additional Skills & QualificationsDetail-oriented with excellent customer service skills.Experience in specimen collection and processing.Must be punctual and attentive to details.Work Environment
The work location is at Howell Mill RD NW, Atlanta, GA, operating from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with staggered start times. Training will be provided on-site for 1-2 weeks. The role involves working alongside one other person in a small team environment. The job requires extensive walking and standing throughout the day, with responsibilities in an IOP setting. The candidate will process specimens, approximately 100 to 200 per day, and will be exposed to patients of all ages. Our Client offers the Hepatitis B series to candidates, though it is optional.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.83/hr.
