Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot, provide training, and make workflow recommendations.
ResponsibilitiesConduct blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.Record maintenance data and perform decontamination processes.Update patient information accurately.Collect and store specimens following established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.Interpret and understand all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as per test order requirements.Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.Package specimens properly for transport.Store specimen samples at required temperatures and label them accurately.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department training sessions.Respond to telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to callers.Essential SkillsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.0-2 years of relevant experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in phlebotomy, medical procedures, customer service, and blood drawing.Ability to handle drug screens, billing information, and specimen processing.Experience working with a diverse patient demographic from ages 18 to geriatrics.Ability to perform 20-25 draws per day.Work Environment
The position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and operates Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM. Training will be provided at the account location. You will work alongside one other person. The role requires working in a fast-paced environment, handling blood draws, and managing patient information efficiently.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.83/hr.
