Job Title: Phlebotomist I - Aiken (Immediate Hiring)

Job Description

The Phlebotomist I position involves assisting in various duties including troubleshooting, training, and recommending workflow improvements. The role requires expertise in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and maintaining accurate patient information.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label them correctly.Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are correct.Package specimens for transport following specific protocols.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy skills with 2 years of recent experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Experience in blood draws for all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric.Excellent customer service skills.Phlebotomy certification (CPT).Additional Skills & QualificationsGED or High School diploma.Work Environment

The work environment is within the IOP Aiken Physician Alliance, operating Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The role involves covering for FMLA, with daily blood draws ranging from 25 to possibly 35/40. It is a large patient service center where the worker will be on their feet most of the time for 8 to 8 ½ hours per day. The position involves interacting with various patient types including pediatric and geriatric. The role is within a team setting, with training provided at PSC locations for 1 to 2 weeks.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr.
