Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Job Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The position involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, while ensuring proper communication and technique in specimen collection.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Properly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Package and store specimens according to required temperature protocols.Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy certificationAt least 1 year of experience in phlebotomyHigh School Diploma or GEDProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteAdditional Skills & QualificationsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employedExperience performing venipunctures in fast-paced lab or hospital settingWork Environment

The work environment is structured around a first shift schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, within a 40-hour work week. The role involves specimen collection in a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere, offering the potential for contract-to-permanent opportunities with a large organization known for its excellent benefits.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.50/hr.
