Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Job Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This position requires a professional who can handle specimens with care while adhering to protocols and regulations.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.Record maintenance data and decontaminate work areas.Update patient information accurately.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Fully understand and interpret physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.Accurately label and follow procedures specific to protocol for specimen transport.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.0-2 years of experience in a related field.Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and requires adherence to established protocols and procedures. You will work in a laboratory or hospital setting, using various technologies and equipment. The position demands attention to detail and compliance with safety regulations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
