We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist I to join our team. This position involves performing blood draws consistently throughout the shift and requires flexibility to float to various locations. The candidate will primarily work with geriatric patients, performing 45-50 draws per day. Locations include Cincinnati, Dayton, Middletown, Miamisburg, and surrounding areas.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, to patients.Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Understand and execute all physician orders accurately.Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% accurate.Package specimens for transport while maintaining the integrity of the samples.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department training sessions.Answer telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory results.Essential SkillsProficiency in phlebotomy, venipuncture, and specimen collection.Phlebotomy certification is required.Experience working with geriatric patients.Additional Skills & Qualifications1-2 years of phlebotomy experience preferred.Ability to troubleshoot and make workflow recommendations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.42 - $17.75/hr.
