JOB SUMMARY
The Phlebotomist (MI) - Casual Obtains and processes a variety of patient samples for lab analysis, responsible for performing routine venous and capillary punctures, providing instruction to patients collecting samples, verifying physician orders, specimen accessioning and preparing samples for reference labs. Must maintain excellence in customer service and work cooperatively with others.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: High School diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved technical program or equivalent on- the-job training.
Preferred/Optional: None
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Minimum Required: Must be able to provide direct patient care with concern, professionalism, and attention to detail, must be able to practice infection control, understand sample requirements, prioritize appropriately, and communicate effectively.
Preferred/Optional: One-year clinical experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: Medical Assistant certificate, Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP or ASPT).
Hours: As assigned, as needed.
General Start Times: 5am, 6am, 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm
