Requirements + CA CPT License + At least 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist + Must be able to float to locations around Orange County + Must be flexible to work Monday-Friday, 6am-6pm Job Description As a Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting, training, and providing workflow recommendations. Your primary function will be to ensure efficient and accurate specimen collection and processing. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. + Decontaminate and update patient information as necessary. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections to patients. + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. + Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Ensure 100% accuracy in matching test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperatures. + Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual departmental training sessions. + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required. + Minimum of 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 1-3 years of experience in phlebotomy, venipuncture, pediatric and geriatric blood draw, and specimen processing. Work Environment The work environment is fast-paced and involves working in an outpatient draw setting.
