Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

This role involves obtaining blood specimens and collecting non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. The phlebotomist performs screening tests, reports results, and processes specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing. Additionally, the role requires preparing specimens for dispatch and testing at reference laboratories.

ResponsibilitiesObtain blood specimens and collect non-blood specimens for laboratory testing.Perform screening tests and report results accurately.Process specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.Essential SkillsExperience in phlebotomy, blood draw, and venipuncture.Phlebotomy certification preferred, but not required.If not certified, at least 6 months of experience or clinical training in phlebotomy is required.For newly certified individuals, clinical rotations or experience in a hospital setting is necessary.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to handle 50 sticks on average during day shifts, 35 on evenings, and 25-30 during night shifts.Experience in dealing with ABGs and rapid response situations.Experience in a hospital setting, specifically dealing with adults and occasionally pediatrics.Work Environment

The position is based in a busy hospital laboratory setting with shifts from 4 PM to 4 AM, Friday to Sunday. The hospital features the only burn unit in the area and primarily serves adult patients. This role offers a long-term opportunity within a growing hospital, providing a structured career development path for phlebotomists.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
