The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various duties, including troubleshooting, training, and managing workflow. This involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. The phlebotomist collects and stores specimens according to established procedures, explains the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections, and demonstrates techniques using straight or butterfly needles.

ResponsibilitiesCollect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Understand all physicians' orders fully.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature and protocol.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Essential Skills1+ years of experience in phlebotomy, including blood draw and venipuncture.High volume blood draw experience.Proficiency with straight needles and specimen collection.Excellent customer service skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsGED or High School diploma.2+ years of relevant experience.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $22.00/hr.
