Phlebotomist
Phlebotomist The primary role of the Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot training issues, and make workflow recommendations. This position involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures while ensuring the highest standards of patient care. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. + Decontaminate workspaces and update patient information accurately. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Explain the venipuncture blood drawing process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously. + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. + Understand and follow all physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. + Ensure accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. + Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy certification required. + Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 0-2 years of experience in phlebotomy. + Excellent customer service skills. + Ability to perform blood draws on all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Phlebotomy certification (CPT) is highly preferred. + Experience with blow draw techniques is advantageous. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
