Responsibilities
Position Summary:The Phlebotomist, under the direction of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), is responsible for specimen procurement and dispatch. Phlebotomists are required to perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages from newborn to geriatric. The Phlebotomist may be assigned other relevant duties in support of the Laboratory or Patient Access Services.

Minimum Qualifications:Completed phlebotomy certification trainingCurrent CPT New graduate OKTraining sufficient to maintain registration, On-the-job training as neededGood personal communication skillsGood manual dexterityAbility to maneuver quickly and efficiently at the patient’s bedside and within hospital confinesWorking knowledge of multiple computer systems and softwareFamiliarity with or ability to learn medical terminologyAbility to remain calm and function efficiently during difficult or emergency situationsAbility to communicate Phlebotomy responsibilities as outlined in the Phlebotomy Procedure manual to traineesAbility to read and follow written instructions as well as understand and adhere to verbal directionsPreferred Qualifications:One year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical laboratoryHigh School diploma or equivalentOverview
