Phlebotomist
Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation, ensuring patient comfort and obtaining sufficient samples with minimal discomfort. This role is vital to maintaining our commitment to high-quality care for a diverse patient demographic. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, record maintenance data, and update patient information. + Collect and store specimens following established procedures. + Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process or other specimen collections as required. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Fully understand and execute physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. + Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. + Package specimens for transport. + Store specimen samples at required temperatures, label accurately, and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Wear appropriate attire. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. + Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy certification. + Minimum of 3 years of experience with blood draws, excluding plasma or dialysis. + Proficiency in customer service within a medical and laboratory environment. + Understanding of oncology. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School Diploma or GED. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Work Environment This position is within an oncology IOP where candidates will work independently. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
