Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. You will collect and store specimens according to established procedures and explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously. You will demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles, understand physicians' orders, and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Additionally, you will label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required, check test requisitions for accuracy, and package specimens for transport while maintaining specimen integrity. Responsibilities + Collect and store specimens following established procedures. + Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection clearly and courteously. + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. + Understand and comply with physicians' orders and laboratory protocols. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Ensure accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. + Package specimens for transport, maintaining specimen integrity. + Store specimen samples at required temperatures and label them accurately. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy certification + Experience in blood drawing and venipuncture + Specimen collection and processing skills + Customer service skills + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Additional Skills & Qualifications + 2+ years of work experience in phlebotomy + 2+ years of experience drawing blood from pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients + High School Diploma or GED Work Environment You will work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM at a patient services center alongside three other phlebotomists. You will be required to draw blood from up to 30 patients daily. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
