Job Description
The Phlebotomist plays a crucial role in performing phlebotomy and point-of-care tests, including quality assurance activities related to examination performance under supervision. This position involves assisting in various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.Perform data entry of patient information accurately and in a timely manner.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Ensure 100% correctness by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes.Accurately label and follow procedures necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Process billing information and collect payments when required.Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.Maintain patient and specimen information logs.Provide superior customer service to all patients.Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.Essential SkillsProficiency in phlebotomy, blood draw, and medical procedures.Experience in laboratory processing and customer service.Strong data entry skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 4 years of experience as a Phlebotomist.Experience with Microsoft Office.Reliable transportation.Work Environment
The Phlebotomist will work primarily in a laboratory setting, spending 90% of the time drawing blood in the lab and only 10% in doctors' offices. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
