Job Overview: 

The Phlebotomist obtains blood specimens from patients as ordered by the licensed healthcare provider, labels the specimen appropriately and distributes to the laboratory department for testing.

Qualifications:

Required:

HS Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

Phlebotomy CertificationAt least one year of direct experience in a healthcare environment

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift working, (week A) Wednesday 5am-9am, Saturday 1:30pm-10pm, Sunday 1:30pm-10pm; (week B) Wednesday 5am-9am, Thursday 5am-1:30pmOpportunities to pick up additional shiftsPart-Time (PT)

Essential Functions:

Collect blood specimens following appropriate protocol, entering orders, accessioning specimens and assisting lab technologistsAnswering phones and inquiries, as well as assisting patients with proper specimen collectionKnowledgeable in aspects of the pre-analytical phase of laboratory testing including specimen rejection criteriaMaintains the inventory of supplies required for specimen collection and disposes specimen collection needles and supplies safelyAssists laboratory technologists and clerical staff, and also utilizes multiple computer systems in the performance of phlebotomy
