Hybrid Remote- Seven available positions for Pharmacy Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention Analysts. (Our team primarily works remotely from Central Florida with an in-person requirement once per week our office address is 602 Courtland St. Orlando, FL 32804The role youll contribute:
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Functions with a significant level of responsibility, autonomy and expertise under administrative supervision of pharmacy management personnel. Work to meet highly specialized pharmacy business need in programs such as Diversion Prevention, Automated Dispensing Machine Support, Informatics, Medication History, or Investigational Drugs.

Pharmacy Operations
Maintains knowledge of the operational functions:
o Central operations
o Sterile and hazardous medications compounding
o Decentral operations
o Controlled substances
Provides support in the appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems. Maintains expertise in electronic medical records processed and accurately interprets records
Maintains proficiency, supports the management of and actively provides coverage for applicable technician specialty position provided by Diversion Prevention Analyst, Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) Support Specialist, Informatics Specialist, Medication History Specialist, Investigational Drug Specialist or other specialist positions. Follow specific function requirements and competencies listed in this job description for each specialty area
Pharmacy Practice
Facilitates medication safety practices by identifying and reporting potential medication errors such as look-alike sound-alike medications
Prepares and delivers accurate, safe and timely medication
Effectively collaborates with other hospital departments and strategic business unit leaders to advance patient care services and pharmacy programs

Specialty Competency Requirements:
Diversion Prevention Analyst:
Working knowledge of Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) code of federal regulations and State Board of Pharmacy regulations on controlled substances
Perform regular review of multiple data sources (including transaction reports for medication cabinets, diversion detection software reports, controlled substance Safe, inventories, medical records, and purchase data) to identify drug diversion activities
Perform inventory audits, monitoring of discrepancy dashboards, discrepancy assessment and research, compare report and controlled substance safe open discrepancy report evaluation, and patient specific dispense reconciliation, and controlled substance safe expire bin audits as required
Communicate closely with managers across the institution to investigate suspicious activity
Review discrepancies in controlled substances inventory, in collaboration with Nursing, Anesthesia and Pharmacy personnel
Perform trend analysis and database assessments as it relates to the utilization of controlled substances within the institution
Assist with compliance monitoring and enforcement of internal policies and procedures related to controlled substances and medication management
Assist as required with identification of root causes behind drug mishandling or diversion and the development of corrective and preventive actions, process improvements and education to address them
Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) Support Specialist:
Demonstrate expert knowledge on the current ADC system for maintenance, trouble shooting, initial builds, and medication additions or changes
Perform periodic optimization of ADC areas to reduce pharmaceutical waste and maintain quality of the ADC
Lead ADC projects as assigned, providing support and education to physicians, nurses, anesthesia providers, and pharmacy staff
Manage ADC maintenance issues and emergencies, and provides on-site support and customer service
Provide ADC training to new employees during the onboarding process and continued education and feedback to pharmacy staff on all ADC functions
Perform audits for ADC errors or deviations in pharmacy policies and procedures and report to management
Act as a liaison for ADC support to other hospital campuses across the system
Maintain relationship and communicates with the ADC vendor
Informatics Specialist:
Perform advanced analysis on data set (pivot tables, formulas, filtering, charts)
Create and run basic data queries in Pharmacy IT platforms such as Business Intelligence platforms, Inventory Management software, Repackaging software, and/or RFID technology
Provide training and support on all technology platforms used in pharmacy department
Provide actionable optimization data to allow for end users to improve their efficiency and that of the technology
Manage projects involving technology in operations and supply chain
Build and maintain medications in various technology systems with second check by pharmacist
Act as informatics ambassador to hospital facilities across the system to connect with department customers and identify high impact work
Triage and prioritize emergency and maintenance issues related to pharmacy technology
Medication History Specialist:
Demonstrate exceptional knowledge and competency with respect to the role of medication history technician as well as a thorough understanding of the subsequent activities required of the pharmacist in the medication reconciliation process
Act as Medication History ambassador to hospital facilities across the system to connect with department customers and identify high impact process improvements
Triage workload and workflow issues across multiple facilities to optimize use of labor
Build and/or maintain database and metrics for the collection of medication history and completion of medication reconciliation
Provide training to new personnel in the department regarding medication history and medication reconciliation workflow
Investigational Drug Specialist
Maintain Research Ethics and Compliance Training certification in the following:
o Biomedical Research
o Good Clinical Practice
o Health Information Privacy and Security (HIPS)
Prepare oral and intravenous investigational products in accordance with investigational protocol procedures
Maintain confidential information and assists in the record keeping related to clinical trials required by the research protocols, including investigational product storage requirements.
Manage the clinical investigational drug inventory, both physical and Investigational Drug Software.
Provide technical assistance with clinical trial protocols
Utilize multiple web-based programs to access research protocol training programs, order investigational product, and verify receipt and disposition of investigational product
Provide research pharmacy training to technician students, pharmacy students, and pharmacy residents, if applicable
Communicate with and provides support to external research study sponsors and monitors, and internal research study coordinators and regulatory staff
Participate in Site Initiation Visits (SIVs) and all follow-up research study monitoring visits, if applicable
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
High school or equivalent
Three years of hospital pharmacy experience
REQUIRED:
Applicable State Pharmacy Technician Registration (RPT) REQUIRED
Current certification from Nationally recognized Board/Association, if applicable per state legislation
Sterile Compounding Certification, if applicable per state legislation
