As a Medication Access Pharmacy Technician, you will provide prescription delivery service to patients in a variety of care settings, including the hospital, Emergency Department or infusion room. You will support Pharmacists, RNs, Case Managers and other staff to promote an effective transition of care while identifying patients eligible for delivery service, delivering prescriptions and ensuring proper payment upon completion. This role is an excellent way to not only improve the treatment experience, but also further develop your skills in an innovative healthcare setting.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 10:45am to 7:15pm. There are weekend expectations for Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm once every 2 months. No holiday or floating expectations.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Coordinate and communicate care with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely and accurate procurement of prescriptions and EMR documentation.Identify potential medication-related access problems and work with patients and colleagues to solve these problems.Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.Work with the pharmacy leadership teams to identify areas of opportunity for improved patient experience while also assisting the manager with creating and implementing quality control programs.Conduct third-party prior authorization requests when needed.Identify patients eligible for delivery service and review drug benefit information for patients, third parties and HMOs to promote a smooth medication procurement process that ensures reimbursement requirements are met.  Complete medication histories or other transitional care activities.  Perform all job responsibilities of an inpatient of ambulatory Pharmacy TechnicianBuild positive working relationships, communicate with the team, attend and participate in team huddles and meetings, assist with training and demonstrate emotional control and intelligence.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High School Diploma/GED Florida state licensure as a registered pharmacy technicianMinimum six months related pharmacy experience OR a successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician ProgramCPhT through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 18 monthsCritical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is preferred at time of hireCompletion of a formal pharmacy technician training program preferredExperience dealing with 3rd party insurance and prior authorization process preferred.Bilingual in Spanish

Physical Requirements:

Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job.Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
