Pharmacy Technician - Medication Access

As a Medication Access Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for delivering prescriptions to patients across various care settings in the hospital. A successful caregiver in this role, will provide support across multidisciplinary care teams to facilitate effective transitions of care, ensures accurate and timely delivery of prescriptions and secures proper payment at the time of delivery. You will assist patients by identifying their eligibility for delivery services, drug benefit coverage, third-party payers, and HMOs to streamline medication procurement and ensure reimbursement compliance. This is a rewarding opportunity to utilize your comprehensive skills and expertise to deliver outstanding care, while gaining hands-on experience and advance your career with numerous growth opportunities and professional development resources. **A caregiver in this position works days from 7:45 a.m. -4:15 p.m. OR 8:45 a.m. - 5:15p.m. with weekend rotation every 3-4 months required.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Communicate directly with patients and caregivers while performing technical functions within the assigned work area to ensure timely and accurate procurement of prescriptions and documentation within the electronic medical record when required. + Identify potential medication-related access problems and work with patients and the multi-disciplinary team to solve these problems in an efficient and patient-centered manner. + Coordinate education, bedside medication delivery, and medication payment. + Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a seamless medication-related procurement process for patients. + Work with the pharmacy leadership teams to identify areas of opportunity for improved patient experience. + Assist manager in creating, implementing and monitoring quality control programs in assigned area. + Conduct third party prior authorization requests when needed. + Monitor program performance, including patient volumes served and patient experience indicators, serving as a valued resource to identify discharge prescription coverage issues and assist in their resolution. + Complete medication histories or other transitional care activities as assigned per location. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High School Diploma/GED + Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program + Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). + In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee. + **Please note:** Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Experience dealing with third party insurance and prior authorization process Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
