**Description:**
**JOB SUMMARY**
The Pharmacy Technician assists in the processing of patient medication orders, maintains the department’s inventory in a clean and orderly condition, requisitions supplies, processes departmental paperwork, and relays messages.
**POSITION QUALIFICATIONS**
Education [formal]
1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required
2. Must be registered pharmacy technician or be eligible for registration in the State of
Iowa. This must be completed within 30 days of employment.
3. National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred or previous medical or pharmacy
Background. Must be certified within 6 months of employment.
Experience: Previous pharmacy experience preferred Special Skills and Competencies: Tact, diplomacy, accuracy, dependability, and typing. Be proficient in mathematical skills; and successfully complete competency exam with a minimum passing score of 85%. Knowledge of pharmaceutical names and dosages. Must have acceptable accuracy in performing tasks of verbal and written communication, keyboard operation and computer skills, as well as interpretation and use of numerical and graphic materials.
Completes all the mandatory courses
