Pharmacy Technician - Broadway Pharmacy (Days, 1.0 FTE)

Status: 1.0 FTE, Non-Exempt

Shift: Days, Weekends

Location: 2550 E Broadway St, Helena, MT 59601

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting pharmacist(s) in providing safe and effective medication therapy to patients at St. Peter’s Health.

Demonstrated ability for and of cognitive, organizational and emotional abilities to deal effectively with multiple tasks, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customer needs. Demonstrated ability to handle these situations in a calm and courteous manner that contributes to the overall efficiency and productivity of the pharmacy. Demonstrated ability to accept direction from the pharmacist in charge and work effectively with the pharmacist to provide the needed services. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload to ensure emergent and stat workload is completed in a timely manner. Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and creativity in dealing with a variety of workload situations and demands. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people with different sociological and educational backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member. Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and complete tasks accurately. Demonstrated high level of motivation to provide timely customer service.

Knowledge/Experience:  Knowledge of pharmacy dispensing systems including unit dose, IV admixture, and outpatient prescription processing required. Knowledge of basic differences in drug therapy in different patient age groups from neonates to geriatric patients required. Knowledge of systems of measurement (e.g. metric system) and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and conversions within and between systems of measurement required. Knowledge about aseptic technique in the compounding of IV admixtures if required in practice location required. Knowledge of drug nomenclature including brand and generic names required.  Knowledge of pharmacy law and activities allowed and not allowed by law required. Knowledge and experience in the use of a computer and keyboard required. Experience with Windows programs, use of e-mail and use of the internet preferred. 

Education: High school diploma, HiSET or GED equivalent required.

License/Certification/Registry: Certified pharmacy technician or a provisional certified pharmacy technician license required and must be in good standing in the State of Montana.
