Job Description

Under both direct and indirect supervision, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for patient communication concerning therapy progress, physician follow-up, medication profile updates, and obtaining inventory from the patient to facilitate proper order refills. The role involves assisting the pharmacist in acquiring laboratory values for review.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain team schedule for patient follow-up and refill assessments, as well as deliveries.Participate in daily team huddles to prioritize and coordinate the processing, compounding, and delivery of supplies/orders.Communicate with patients to review inventory for proper refilling of existing orders and anticipate patient care or supply needs.Report identified non-compliance, process orders, print labels and packing lists in a timely manner.Ensure timely and appropriate documentation in progress notes.Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and clinicians involved in patient care to discuss progress and document in progress notes.Forward all concerns and clinical questions to the team pharmacist.Coordinate with the Warehouse Coordinator to ensure adequate supplies and timely deliveries for patient needs.Update patient medication profiles in EMR and present them to the team pharmacist for review.Follow up with physician's office as appropriate within the scope of practice.Notify the Reimbursement team of patient hospitalizations, prescription changes, and changes in patient status.Assist pharmacists in obtaining laboratory values and forward them to the ordering physician. Enter lab values into EMR as appropriate.Provide delivery representatives with patient pick-up forms and assist with scheduling equipment and medical waste pick-up.Perform all other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.Understand confidentiality concerning proprietary information and patient/client care, complying with federal and state laws regarding PHI and EPHI, and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.Essential SkillsCustomer service experience.Pharmacy technician license with a minimum of 6 months of experience.VA license required.2+ years of computer data entry experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills.Strong organizational and process skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to work well under pressure, meet timelines, and complete assigned projects.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Proven performance history in a related field.Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated results.Exceptional track record of customer satisfaction.Working knowledge of Home Infusion, Specialty Infusion, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME).Experience with prior authorization, retail pharmacy, fulfillment, and inventory.Work Environment

This position operates in a Closed Door Pharmacy setting with home infusion. Work hours are from 8:30am to 6pm, featuring an 8-hour shift starting between 8:30am to 9:30am. The role offers room for growth and advancement without patient-facing responsibilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
