Responsibilities Monitors workflow and staffing of the pharmacy operation to ensure on time launchesHandles the majority of customer concerns that require management intervention for the shiftWorks with pharmacy management to ensure implementation of daily operational quality and cost containment strategies on all dispensing and procurement activitiesWorks with the Pharmacy Director and pharmacy staff to ensure the business unit is in compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws/pharmacy regulations and Corporate Compliance ProgramWorks with Pharmacy Director on other responsibilities, corporate initiatives (i.e. quality), special projects, and initiatives as neededEvaluates physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration. Makes recommendations for therapy changes to the physician and facility staff as appropriateMaintains patient/resident database to include appropriate current and past medical history, appropriate clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including over-the-counter and home remedies)Documents all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team and patients/residents and their family members in the medical recordImplements policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, distribution and use of drugs and biologicals, as well as disposal of drugsObtains, as necessary, and maintains all required documentation in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies and company policyInforms the Pharmacy Director of medication related errorsAssists facility/agency staff personnel with procedures relating to safe and effective methods of procuring, maintaining, administering and disposing of drugsPerforms other tasks as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy or Pharmacy DoctorateMinimum of one-year experience in long term care preferredMust have knowledge of pharmacy laws and federal and state regulations concerning long-term care and pharmaceutical care practices for long-term care residents.
