Additional Information About the Role Are you currently pursuing your Doctorate of Pharmacy? This is a student pharmacist working in both sterile and non-sterile spaces preparing medications, delivering medications, and refilling Pyxis machines. This role offers the opportunity to grow your understanding of hospital practice and can be instrumental in transitioning to a pharmacist's role as a manager of workflow. Every 4th weekend 8h shift 0700-1530 on both Saturday and Sunday Overview Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation. At Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The inpatient pharmacy team provides pharmacy services to all areas of the hospital. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Under direct supervision of staff pharmacists, the Pharmacy Technician has primary responsibility of preparing drugs in unit-dose for IV/OR, inpatient and ancillary area. According to standard procedures, Pharmacy Students assist the staff pharmacist in physician order processing, dispensing medications, transporting medication supplies and maintaining appropriate records. Responsibilities Provides accurately prepared orders of pharmaceutical supplies by properly assembling orders and requisitions with the correct products. Provides accurately prepared sterile preparations by properly following procedures. Maintains quality assurance standards and maintenance of required documentation. Delivers IV solutions and medications to nursing divisions and ancillary departments. Maintains a clean, orderly and sufficiently stocked work area.
