Pharmacy Medical Pre-Authorization Coordinator
Description We are looking for a Pharmacy Medical Pre-Authorization Coordinator to join a dynamic and collaborative team in Newark, California. This role involves ensuring timely and accurate medication authorizations to support patient care while adhering to insurance and healthcare regulations. As part of a long-term contract position, you will play a vital role in optimizing workflows and maintaining compliance within the healthcare environment. Responsibilities: • Review medical records thoroughly to verify proper documentation for pharmacy prescriptions. • Submit detailed chart notes and supporting documentation to insurance companies to facilitate medication approvals. • Manage electronic work queues related to prescription submissions and re-submissions, ensuring timely follow-ups. • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, pharmacies, patients, and insurance companies to address authorization status and resolve issues. • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all interactions and authorization processes. • Confirm insurance coverage and pharmacy benefits to avoid delays in patient care. • Collaborate with team leads and managers to enhance workflows and streamline processes. • Utilize standardized communication templates to ensure clear and consistent messaging. • Monitor electronic health record systems to manage referral work queues according to performance standards. • Perform additional duties and participate in organizational projects as required. Requirements • Proven experience in medical records review and documentation within a healthcare setting. • Strong communication skills for interacting with clinicians, patients, and insurance representatives. • Proficiency in electronic health record systems and work queue management. • Knowledge of insurance processes and pharmacy benefit workflows. • Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations. • Exceptional organizational skills to manage documentation and authorization processes. • Familiarity with clinical workflows and optimization strategies. • Competence in managing tasks with attention to detail and efficiency.
