Pharmacy Lead
STGi is currently seeking candidates to work as a Pharmacy Lead to support a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) facility. The CMOP utilizes a combination of automated and manual procedures to prepare and dispense Over the Counter (OTC) and legend drug prescriptions, controlled substance prescriptions, bulk type prescriptions, and medical/surgical products directly by mail to patients. The nature of services includes the operation and support of automated and manual filling equipment, and the preparation of prescription orders for mail-out dispensing.
In this role as a pharmacist, you will complete a variety of duties throughout the workday. Some duties of a may include:
Maintain costs and adhere to budget and formulary requirements. Manage, supervise, and schedule pharmacy staff. Maintain drug stock par levels, to ensure drug inventory turnover. Encourage generic and preferred formulary usage while maintaining contract adherence. Receives and interprets physicians' medication orders; monitors patient medication profiles to guard against sensitivities, contraindications, duplications, and major drug interactions Assures the accurate and timely refilling of patient medication Assures maintenance of patients' medication records Provide drug information to other health care providers and patients. Consults and advises members of the medical staff on matters relating to specific drug therapy problems; provides drug information and other informational materials to members of the medical and nursing staff; works with medical and/or nursing personnel to resolve problems involving pharmacy services Coordinates and supervises work-place activities and resources; promotes professional competence; assures that services rendered, and work performed are in accordance with specific standards; advises, assists, and supervises work of pharmacy technicians; assumes final responsibility for accuracy of their work Prepares special medications involving compounding procedures and sterile products using aseptic techniques when necessary Assist with training programs of pharmacy interns, residents, students, and technicians; provides information in all pertinent areas of pharmacy practices, policies, and procedures
