Position Summary: Responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of medications for patients within the hospital. Assisting in the compounding and mixing of IV medications once completion of Simplifi 797 education series on compounding IV preparations and passing all gloved fingertip testing and media fill testing. Will be able to round with Clinical Pharmacist on ICU patients and will participate in Medication reconciliation process and direct patient education with pharmacist for group education settings and one on one education sessions with patients. Must be supervised by a licensed pharmacist.
Education, License & Cert: High School Diploma. Enrollment in a College of Pharmacy and eligible for NYS Pharmacy Intern Permit Licenses: New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit Experience: No previous hospital pharmacy job experience is required.
Essential Functions: 1. Unit dose cart filling from daily report and updates. 2. Stocking medications from wholesaler in appropriate areas in pharmacy. 3. Restocking ADC cabinets on Nursing Units twice daily. 4. IV admixture preparation. 5. Rounding on ICU patients with Clinical Pharmacist. 6. Providing medication reconciliation under the supervision of clinical pharmacist. 7. Provision of medication education in one on one or group education settings. 8. Adding Adverse drug reactions to reporting system. 9. Preparing new drug writeups for Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee.
Other Duties: 1. Assist in the delivery of medications to various nursing units and offsite locations such as Outpatient Cancer Treatment Center, Corning Surgical Center in Big Flats. 2. Other duties as assigned.
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.37/hr
