Job Summary: Manage processes related to the effective and efficient delivery of clinical systems to customers such as project requests, reporting, clinical workflows and maintenance of the corporate Electronic Health Record (EHR), and pharmacy specific applications (Automated Dispensing Machines and central pharmacy automation [controlled substances and carousels]). Maintain and implement pharmacy computer system and automation applications, liaison with other CaroMont systems personnel (inpatient and ambulatory), develop system reports, provide quality assurance for automation systems, test and coordinate upgrades, and improve operational efficiency. Maintain and implement oncology (Beacon) computer system for inpatient, ambulatory and infusion center. Serve as a resource to Pharmacy and Informational Technology in evaluating new technologies and how they integrate into the existing systems and processes.
Maintain clinical data files (First Data Bank) for the corporate EHR. Participates in a support on-call rotation facilitating off hour work functions in support of incidents, upgrades, patches, and project task fulfillment.
Maintain smart drug libraries for the various pumps (IV, syringe and PCA/Epidural). Coordinate updates with Pharmacy, Nursing, Materials Management and Biomedical Engineering. Represent Pharmacy on Information Technology, Hospital and Corporate committees as necessary. Maintain pharmacy system cost and billing files. Serve as a resource to hospital billing in regards to pharmacy billing and HCPCS codes.
Coordinate or provide computer training for new pharmacy employees and enhancement training for existing pharmacy employees. Build and maintain EHR training system. Perform pharmacist duties as required.
Qualifications: BS or PharmD in pharmacy from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy. Current NC pharmacist license required or NC license eligible. Minimum of five years experience as a hospital pharmacist OR PGY1 Hospital Residency with two years experience OR PGY1 Hospital Residency with PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency. Experience working with pharmacy computer system applications preferred.
Epic Willow Certification or obtain within six months of employment. Other certification or proficiency (Beacon, Orders, Ambulatory) may be required. Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology, procedures and policies. Considerable skill in performing pharmacy procedures. Knowledge of computer technology, including PC and peripheral device operations, networks, and troubleshooting error messages.
Considerable ability to communicate effectively with departmental, nursing, systems, physicians, other personnel and vendor representatives and staff.
