Pharmacy Coordinator - Community Oncology and Infusion
**Job Overview** Are you an experienced pharmacy technician interested in building your knowledge of specialized medications, complex compounding, and third-party regulations and billing guidelines? We are seeking a Pharmacy Coordinator to support our Oncology Infusion Pharmacy team in Burnsville. This position works directly with pharmacy patients, medical staff, and nursing teams to manage complex medication needs. The Pharmacy Coordinator serves as a senior-level technician, providing leadership in sterile compounding, workflow management, and regulatory compliance beyond standard technician duties. **Responsibilities** + Building and maintaining professional relationships with providers, patients, families, insurers, and other departments. + Coordinating workflow to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. + Anticipating business needs to support the growth and success of the pharmacy. + Managing inventory control and performing complex compounding and distribution of pharmaceuticals, IV solutions, and related documentation as ordered by prescribers. **Chemotherapy/IV room experience is ideal for this position!** **Sterile Compounding & Pharmacy Operations** + Maintain IV hoods, isolators, clean room, and ante room according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements (as applicable by location and business need). + Perform complex sterile compounding, including: + Cancer treatments + Home infusion pumps + Investigational drugs + Serial dilutions for cytotoxic desensitization + Sterile compounding of specialty medications for various disease states, including hazardous medications. + Utilize Epic functionality for compounding and repackaging anticipatory compounded medications. **Inventory & Supply Management** + Handle complex drug inventories for clinics. + Coordinate ordering and delivery of medications, supplies, and equipment to patients, cancer clinics, infusion centers, and other areas (such as Fairview Home Infusion). + Maintain inventory and records for: + Free drug program inventory + Treatments/supplies obtained through retail sites (when required by payers) **Patient Care & Collaboration** + Partner with care providers and pharmacists to ensure patients receive medications accurately, safely, and in a timely manner, following all legal requirements and policies. + Assist in resolving billing issues, obtaining prior authorizations, verifying eligibility, and escalating concerns as appropriate. **Regulatory & Compliance** + Maintain REMS (Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies) certifications specific to the site (e.g., Tysabri, Lemtrada). + Support data collection, reporting, process improvement, and the maintenance of patient education materials. + Under the direction of a pharmacist, follow appropriate computer systems and protocols to prepare drug therapy and/or dispense medications accurately and timely, in accordance with all legal, regulatory, and Fairview requirements. **Organization Expectations** + Demonstrate the ability to provide care that reflects developmental levels and cultural differences of the population served. + Partner with patients and caregivers in care and decision-making. + Communicate respectfully and effectively. + Ensure a safe and secure environment. + Individualize plans of care to meet patient needs. + Modify clinical interventions based on the population served. + Provide patient education based on assessed learning needs. + Fulfill all organizational requirements, including completion of required learning and adherence to all laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. + Foster a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovation. + Perform other duties as assigned. **Required Qualifications** + **Education:** + Minimum of 6 months of pharmacy technician experience in a pharmacy setting. + **Experience:** + At least 1 year of chemotherapy/IV room experience. + **License/Certification:** + Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy (required prior to start). + Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification within 12 months of hire. **Preferred Qualifications** + **Education:** + Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare. + **Experience:** + At least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in a Specialty or Hospital environment. + Billing experience and an understanding of the healthcare pharmacy system. **Benefit Overview** Fairview offers a generous benefit package including but not limited to medical, dental, vision plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, PTO and Sick and Safe Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement, early access to earned wages, and more!
