Pharmacy 340B Purchasing Analyst

SUMMARY

The 340B Purchasing Analyst will assist the 340B Program Coordinator in achieving desired outcomes in the following areas: (1) drug product selection/procurement, (2) 340B Program compliance, monthly reporting, dispensing patterns, (3) inventory control and billing processes, (4) maintaining of 340B software systems. As a member of the 340B Pharmacy team, the Purchasing Analyst collaborates with the team to plan, organize and operate the department to achieve unit and organizational goals, meet customer needs and assure high quality services, products and compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required:

Preferred: Credentials/Licensure Required: Preferred: Related Experience

Required: Preferred: High School Diploma, five years of Pharmacy experience.

Associate's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university Pharmacy Technician Certification; 340B ACE Pharmacy technician.

Pharmacy supply chain experience in a healthcare environment. Macrohelix platform.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Ability to work with pharmacy informatics members and key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

Ability to quickly master new software Expertise with MS Office Excellent analytical skills including the ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, relate and compare data from different sources, and identify alternative solutions

Excellent organizational skills Ability to create and maintain policies and procedures Ability to work and interact with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred:

Computer Competency

Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.

Physical/Mental

• Frequent amount of physical activity including reading, sitting, standing, and walking.

• Occasionally required to lift, carry and/or push or pull up to 50 pounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The 340B Purchasing Analyst will work with key stakeholders to meet desired objectives within the local RHM. The potential exists to work with pharmacy distribution companies, manufacturers and various healthcare/software venders. S/he will exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies to support the local RHM along with any other endeavors/duties deemed necessary.

• Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

• Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with all HRSA Office and Pharmacy Affairs regulations related to the 340B drug purchase program.

• Supports Pharmacy buyer(s) with drug selection, procurement and inventory control in relation to 340B. Monitor ordering processes to ensure systems are functioning as intended. Analyze invoices, procurement and inventory processes based on class of trade (340B, GPO, WAC).

• Maintains ongoing communications with Pharmacy Buyer(s) to align and standardize purchasing practices.

• Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements needed to support program.

• Maintain 340B databases to reflect changes in the drug formulary in relation to CDM crosswalks.

• Develops and reports monthly and annually on 340B participation which clearly documents utilization, savings, and any problem areas.

• Participates in the analysis and interpretation of 340B pricing trends.

• Prepares program content and presents information related to the 340B program as requested. • Work with the hospital/retail buyers to ensure wholesaler contracted items are procured when feasible
