The Opportunity

 The Pharma Communications Area Lead for CEETRIS (Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, Russia and the Indian Subcontinent), reports to the Head of Communications Business Partnering, Pharma International.  

Core Responsibilities:

This role encompasses three primary areas of focus, underpinned by a commitment to strategic alignment and efficient resource management:

Rapid Access Communications: Drive the actionability, alignment, and adoption of global product and disease area commercialisation strategies through targeted communications and public relations initiatives.

Policy Communications: Ensure regional actionability, alignment, and adoption of global policy strategies at a country level.

Grow & Protect: Enhance and safeguard the organisation's regional reputation.

Foundational Expectations:
 Underpinning these core responsibilities, the successful candidate will:

Identify synergies to enable scalability across multiple geographies.

Provide resource guidance and monitor/diagnose communications performance.

Work in close collaboration with the Global External Affairs team and the Commercialisation Leadership teams.

While the successful candidate will lead the communications network for Pharma in CEETRIS, the person will also be required to lead work on our Group and Pharma Communications global strategic priorities. 

Act as a champion of the One Roche (Pharma and Diagnostics) approach to ensure alignment and One Voice in the external ecosystem.

Sets an ambitious, patient-centred vision and acts as catalysts for change across the function and company

Fosters the creation of a thriving networked community by building connections around shared interests and supporting career development to advance the function around the world 

Anticipates and addresses the changing needs of the organisation by unleashing a thriving networked community to build upon experiences and deliver effective and collaborative solutions

Is a trusted member of the Area Network Enabling Team and acts as a sparring partner, advisor and inspiration sparker for the Pharma Area Head, General Managers and their respective leadership teams where needed

Who you are
You hold a university degree and preferably an MBA and bring over 10 years of experience in strategic communications, ideally within a corporate or healthcare-focused PR agency setting. You are skilled across a range of disciplines—including issues management, product communications, and policy communications. You model a servant and creative leadership style, driven by purpose and focused on enabling high-performing teams to deliver collective value. You inspire through vision, empower through trust, and catalyse communications excellence across your geographical area.

You thrive in fast-paced, multicultural, and matrixed environments, and have a strong track record of working with diverse teams, developing talent, and fostering a transparent, values-driven culture. Your ability to craft and manage global communications strategies is matched by your strategic agility and deep understanding of the healthcare industry. You’re a trusted advisor with excellent consulting skills—able to listen actively, extract insights, and provide targeted, actionable recommendations.
 

You have strong executive presence and are confident as a spokesperson, presenter, and mediator. Your experience includes advising senior leaders and contributing meaningfully to strategic decision-making. You’re also a proven change leader, with the ability to drive innovation and organisational transformation. 
 

You actively model the Roche Leadership Commitments, Collective Leadership, and Operating Principles, bringing them to life through your daily actions and strategic vision.

You are fluent in English (verbal and written);  Local languages may be advantageous (e.g Slavic languages, Turkish etc.)
